The Unusual Chauncey Faust

Set in the present, THE UNUSUAL CHAUNCEY FAUST centers on the titular actor who senses that time is slipping away. From the beginning of his career, Chauncey has felt driven by a purpose beyond ambition or recognition. His relationship to his work — and to his own life — carries a dreamlike quality, shaped by a persistent sense of calling that sets him apart.

Playwright
Coni Koepfinger is the winner of the 2021 Olwen Wymark Award from the Writers Guild of Great Britain, and her work has been published by Next Stage Press and Leicester Bay Theatricals. She has also been recognized within the Letters division of the National League of American Pen Women. Her plays have been presented throughout New York City, including recent productions with Rogue Theatre (2022–2025), the 2024 Open Eye Theatre Summer Shorts, and the 2025 15 Minutes of Frame festival at the Gene Frankel Theatre. Her work is now being produced by Lucky Pearto and Gail Thacker at the Gene Frankel Theatre in March 2026.

Director
Aviva Katz leads a cast on a journey that blurs the boundaries between performance and identity. Expectations shift, logic bends, and events unfold as if within a dream. This full-length play blends the humor of absurdity with the weight of meta-theatre, inviting reflection on purpose, creation, and the nature of performance itself.
